The Power of Podcasts Over Playlists

The Power of Podcasts Over Playlists

LaptopLauraBlog [read me!], Podcasting, Psychology

I love music, and I’m a pretty good dancer, if I do say so myself.

But for the past 9 months or so I have replaced the majority of my music listening with podcasts. Why?

It’s the same principle as many sage business and entrepreneur teachers support of “Car University.” They say listen to books on tape or sales CDs in your car as you drive and you turn your car into a moving university.

I don’t drive much these days – thankfully – so I have turned walking on the treadmill, doing dishes, folding laundry, and cooking meals into a non-stop entrepreneurial business school!

The podcasts that have filled the bulk of my time the past 9 months are the following three:

1. The Tim Ferriss Show

2. IMA Leader

3. Smart Passive Income with Pat Flynn

Another shout out goes to my friend Kristen Slice and her Tales of Small Business Podcast.

From listening to these shows regularly I can honestly say that not only do I feel happier (Tim’s guests in particular are often laugh-out-loud hilarious in addition to being masters in a variety of genres), but I also am constantly learning and staying on the pulse of tools, techniques, and business-growing best practices.

What podcasts are on your playlist?

I encourage you to start small, but start. Decide that from today forward you will always listen to X podcast when doing X activity.

…say, Tim Ferriss while you get ready in the morning.

Just replace one jam session with a great podcast and share back the results! I assure you they will be many-fold.
